Ballymaglassan Farm
Blackhall
Dunboyne
County Meath
Description
Ballymaglassan Farm is an idyllic property located between the popular villages of Batterstown and Kilcloon in County Meath and just off the main Dunboyne/Summerhill Road. It is located a short distance from the busy town of Dunboyne in County Meath that is approx. 17 km / 10.5 miles away from Dublin City Centre and has become a popular destination for commuters travelling in and out of Dublin to work. Dunboyne is centred on the crossroads formed by the R156 regional road and the old Maynooth Road (formerly designated R157). The infrastructure has vastly improved over the last number of years with the introduction of the railway and bus services and the area has attracted such companies as Facebook and MSD Biologics, Dunboyne that have recently located premises close to the town. Dunboyne has the benefit of having the train station with the direct line into Dublin City Centre. The M3 Parkway train station is approximately a 12 minute drive. It is also in close proximity is the wonderful Avoca Café and Store that is located just outside Dunboyne and Caffery’s award winning pub and restaurant that is just over a 5 minute drive away.
Dunboyne has managed to keep its village feel very much intact, despite having a growing population. This is largely due to an excellent preservation of the town centre, focused around a village green, and a crossroads just past it. Around those two locations, the town spreads out but, crucially, has not been overdeveloped, which has maintained the feel that one is in rural Ireland. Recently the town has benefitted from a new shopping centre that opened in the Spring of 2019.
The town of Maynooth is also some 10km from Ballymaglassan With a population of over 12,500 and being within 26 km/16 miles from Dublin, Maynooth is also a major commuter suburb, with many people residing there and commuting to Dublin.
Ballymaglassan Farm records dates back to 1205 when the Norman, Walter de Lacy, granted the land to St. Thomas’s Abbey in Dublin. This yard would have been part of the Ballymaglassan House Estate and was built around 1974 along with the grooms bungalow.
The nearby M4 provides easy access into the city centre and an excellent public transport supports this, with both bus and train services from the town centre. Maynooth offers a massive array of shops, supermarkets and restaurants for all family needs and is an excellent venue for relaxing.
There is excellent horse racing nearby in Fairyhouse, with Leopardstown, Naas, Navan, Punchestown and The Curragh within easy driving distance. There is a wide selection of equestrian facilities including the National Sports Arena.
