Rockmount
9 Trafalgar Terrace
Meath Road
Bray
Co. Wicklow
A98 Y248
Description
Built circa 1890 during the renaissance period of Bray, as a coastal retreat for wealthy city dwellers, No. 9 exudes Victorian period charm with many original features still intact which have been carefully blended with modern day amenities to provide for a comfortable and characterful family home. From the street, one is immediately drawn to the aesthetically attractive repointed redbrick façade with decorative blue tiles and a bay window - nestled behind a hedge and small front garden with box hedging and original Victorian mosaic pebble path.
The front door with a fan light leads into a most inviting entrance hallway which measures over 10m in length with a classic black & white tiled floor, original cornicing and ornate ceiling rose, dado rail and picture hanging rail. To the front of the house, there is a beautifully appointed living room with original wooden floors and feature fireplace with a modern multi-fuel stove, ornate ceiling rose, elegant cornicing , picture hanging rail and a bay window. Directly behind this room, you will find a 2nd reception room which is currently in use as a sitting room and is almost identical in size to the front living room – it has a lovely cast iron fireplace and overlooks the rear paved patio. At the end of the hallway, there is a guest WC and useful under stairs storage. From here, you enter into the dining room, and on into the country style kitchen with a Belfast sink – both spaces have direct access though a double door out to the patio and rear garden. The Kitchen, which is an extension added by the current owners, is flooded with natural light via a vaulted ceiling and velux window.
Rising upstairs on the 1st floor return, there is a clever roof light which provides excellent natural light, a large single bedroom and the family bathroom complete with a reclaimed original rolltop bath. A few steps lead up to the 1st floor proper where you will find two impressive and equally proportioned double bedrooms – the principal bedroom at the back of the house has a tiled ensuite shower room; and a single bedroom completes the accommodation.
Another big feature with Rockmount, is its most desirable and predominately south westerly facing rear garden which offers a private oasis with a mix of mature border planting, a grass lawn area, a gravel area and a semi-enclosed paved patio that are both ideal for ‘al fresco’ dining or entertaining during the warmer months. There is also a garden shed for storage, a fuel store and a rear pedestrian gate that provides access onto Meath Place. The front garden is laid out in box hedging with pattern stone paving that is surrounded by taller hedging that offers good privacy from the road.
The location is unrivalled, Meath Road is a highly sought after and desirable residential area of Bray that is adjacent to the famous ‘mile long’ Victorian promenade which is only a 1 minute walk from the house and offers a great amenity space for a leisurely walk, a swim or somewhere to meet for a coffee, an ice cream, food or a drink in its selection of cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours. Bray is a bustling yet fashionable seaside town which lies approximately 22km south of Dublin City Centre and it offers the best of coastal, suburban and country living. The town has an excellent range of local services and amenities on its’ doorstep including a plethora of cafes; restaurants and bars; shops; supermarkets; primary and secondary schools; sports and recreational facilities like Bray Head, Bray Harbour, Kilruddery House and Gardens, the Mermaid Theatre to name a few. The town has very good transport links with the DART station only a 2-minute walk from the property, a choice of Dublin Bus services and the road network via the N11/M11/M50 providing easy access to Dublin and beyond.
