Abbeyleix is a town rich in culture and heritage. It has some beautiful architectural buildings with many of them with a special story to tell. Included in that storey must be the Killamuck Cottages. The local landlord Viscount De Vesci was concerned for the welfare of his tenants and built homes where they were close to work and self sufficient.
