History
Ardagh Lodge has a long association with the Kingston Family who lived on the site from at least 1828 up until recent times. The family name is synonymous with Kingston’s Quarry, located north of the house, which they operated from the late 19th century. Cut sandstone from the quarry adorns many buildings throughout Rosscarbery, including the Sisters of Mercy Convent.

The present house was built in 1913 for just £19 with the family proudly exposing their cut sandstone from the beginning for all to see. Timbers from a ship wrecked around Rosscarbery Bay in 1913 have been used in the roof which was re-slated with natural Spanish slate in c.2013.

Rosscarbery is an historical and picturesque town to live or holiday in. The lagoon and the nearby Warren Beach are some of the many attractions. The area is noted for its attractive architecture, vibrant square with popular restaurants and bars, excellent schools, sandy beaches and the renowned sailing waters in nearby Glandore.

Rosscarbery or Roscarbery is a town in County Cork. The town is on a shallow estuary, which opens onto Rosscarbery Bay.
The town itself has witnessed unprecedented growth in recent times, despite the lack of any major industry in the area, and being just outside the commuter belt for the city of Cork. The majority of new housing is holiday accommodation, which results in an annual swell in population during summer months. According to the 2006 census, the population of the town is 936.
