The Bullhouse
Clondra
Co. Longford
Description
This property is the ruins of a bonded warehouse where whiskey from the mill was stored before excise duty was paid. The building is known to locals as the “Bullhouse”, as it was last used for storing bulls.
The lands are contained in Folio LD8501 and consist of 2.24 hectares (c. 5.54 acres). The lands are principally zoned for recreational use but a section of the ground along the road frontage is zoned ‘Town Core’. An extract from the Longford County development plan 2021-2027 below:
The Bull House has been included in this zoning so that it can be retained and, if possible, could be repaired and used for commercial activities, subject to sensitive design and restoration. Any development should consider the visual impact on the harbour area and be designed to the highest architectural standard.
