18 Old Connaught House
Old Connaught
Rathmichael
Co. Dublin
A98 TK38
Description
Hidden behind electronic gates, a sweeping driveway leads to Old Connaught House, a beautiful 18th century Georgian property which was thoughtfully divided into apartments by Town Park Developments in 2000. At that time a new north wing was also constructed, perfectly in keeping with the original house, and No.18 commands a corner location within this section.
In excellent condition, the apartment reflects all the classic Georgian features including large sash windows, 12 feet high ceilings and decorative coving throughout.
The approach to the north wing’s main entrance door is via a set of gracious granite steps which overlook the beautiful grounds surrounding the development which include mature woodland, rolling lawns and amenities including a tennis court. There is ample private surface level parking.
On entering the property, one is immediately stuck with a sense of space, light and grace, so often lacking in modern apartment properties. The accommodation briefly comprises the entrance hallway with hardwood flooring providing access to the shelved hot-press and attic space via a Stira stairs. To the right, the hallway leads into the large, open-plan kitchen / living / dining room. Flooded with natural daylight due to the dual aspect large sash windows contained in the room, this is a wonderful space where one can enjoy magnificent views of Bray Head. The living space has a fireplace surround with electric connection. The kitchen incorporates an excellent range of fitted kitchen units with polished granite worktops and tiled splash backs. There is a good range of integrated appliances including double oven, hob, fridge / freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Two impressive double bedrooms are located off the hallway, one main bedroom being ensuite with shower enclosure. Each bedroom benefits from fitted wardrobes. The bathroom, also accessed from the hall, boasts a bath with shower attachment.
Old Connaught House is set on the border of beautiful County Wicklow and County Dublin. Despite the development’s peaceful and rural setting, Rathmichael has excellent road links with the N11 and M50 interchange at Cherrywood just a few minute’s drive away and the Luas Greenline at Bride’s Glen can be accessed in a matter of minutes by private transport.
For local shopping, churches, restaurants, bars, DART and bus services, the seaside town of Bray and Shankill Village are within a five minute’s drive, while Dun Laoghaire, Cornelscourt and Dundrum Town Centre are all easily accessible. In the immediate vicinity are reputable schools namely St. Gerard’s Primary and Secondary, Aravon and John Scottus, while for the outdoor enthusiast’s leisurely walks can be enjoyed up Carrickgollogan to the Lead Mines, boasting panoramic views out over Killiney Bay and the picturesque village of Enniskerry is just 10 minutes by car. In addition, there is a wide choice of Golf Clubs, with Old Conna practically across the road and the wonderful amenity of Festina Lente backs on to the development.

About the Area
Rathmichael is a suburb in the south-east of Dublin, situated west of Shankill, from which it is separated by the M50/M11 motorways. It is characterised by extensive tracts of low-density dwellings, with large houses and gardens interspersed with open areas. It rises to the west towards the hill of Carrickgollogan in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. The chimney of the disused lead mines and the ruins of Puck's Castle on the northern flank of Carrickgollogan overlook the area.
