Bantry is a charming town, situated off the N71, just over 55 miles west of Cork City. As one of the larger towns in West Cork, it is a busy community with plenty of activity year round. It functions as a large Market town providing commercial, retail and tourism/leisure facilities for locals and visitors alike. The focus of the town is a large square, formed partly by infilling of the shallow inner harbour. After modernising this as an urban plaza, it now features a colourful weekly market and occasional public functions.
