Stella Maris
Coast Road
Blackrock
Co. Louth
A91 TK37
Description
Stella Maris House is one of only a few original Georgian period homes ever developed in Blackrock and upon entering this home, viewers will instantly feel the character and historic charm it offers, and it gives a unique opportunity to own an historic part of coastal property in Blackrock with uninterrupted, panoramic south facing views of Dundalk Bay across the Fane River estuary towards Salterstown, Annagassan and Dunany Point beyond.
This residence, dating back to c.1840’s is a most historic and interesting property boasting a varied range of intricate architectural details of a bygone era. From the classic façade offering Georgian sliding sash windows and imposing Doric columned entrance door to the ornate interiors with high ceilings, original staircase and decorative plasterwork and coving detail throughout both at ground floor and first floor levels. The original Georgian form is ever present with the traditional central entrance hall flanked by the dual aspect Drawing and Dining Room to the right with the Living Room on the left with the Kitchen with Aga and Pantry to the rear. All the principal rooms at ground floor include stone fireplaces whilst four of the five bedrooms at first floor also contain attractive fireplaces of different eras. Three of the large bedrooms benefit from sea views of Dundalk Bay with two of the rooms, dual aspect creating generous light filled spaces.
Stella Maris showcases classic design features at every turn with a sense of history and craftsmanship throughout. Period homes with such a unique blend of character in this location are rare and highly sought after.
Stella Maris has been in the Murphy Family for nearly 180 years as a multi-generational family home and also serving as a doctor’s surgery for some time. For the most part, this home presents in its original olde worlde charm, requiring refurbishment and "TLC" from a new guardian who will care for and return this seafront home to its former glory whilst taking care and attention to update the layout to ensure the vast expanse of Dundalk Bay is captured and brought into the home in a more modern style.

About the Area
Blackrock (Irish: Na Creagacha Dubha) is a seaside village just to the south of Dundalk, County Louth. The village is in the townland of Haggardstown. The current population of the village is about 3,000.
Since the late 1960s, Blackrock has expanded significantly and has become more of a suburb to Dundalk. With the opening of the M1 motorway to Dublin, there has been another wave of expansion and it is also becoming a commuter town with access to North Dublin. Blackrock beach and its promenade is still the focal point of the village. The promenade area includes a number of restaurants and public houses. More recently kitesurfing is becoming more and more popular in the area. Its an ideal location for learning because of the shallow depths of the water.
