The Glebe House & Gardens
The Park
Midleton
Co Cork
P25 HY49
Description
Sherry FitzGerald O'Donovan are proud to present to the market The Glebe House & Gardens, Midleton, an exceptional period residence set on approximately 1.7 acres of mature and private grounds.
Formerly known as The Deanery, this distinguished Victorian home, complete with outbuildings, is discreetly tucked away just off the Dungourney Road. A Protected Structure (RPS Reg. No. 20830033), the property retains significant architectural and historical importance.
Approached through brick piers and sweeping boundary walls (with additional boundary walls to be completed), the sense of arrival is immediate. Despite its tranquil and secluded setting, the property enjoys the convenience of being just a short walk from Midleton town centre. Enclosed by attractive stone walls, the grounds offer exceptional privacy, while the scale of the gardens provides outstanding scope and development potential.
This elegant residence retains a wealth of original features, including full-height bay windows, timber sliding sash windows, and finely crafted limestone cills, all of which enhance its timeless character.
Inside, the accommodation is both generous and well-proportioned. The ground floor comprises a porch, entrance hall, three reception rooms, a garden room, kitchen, utility pantry, and both front and rear staircases. The first-floor hosts five spacious bedrooms, along with two bathrooms and a WC. While the property is in clear need of refurbishment and modernisation throughout, it offers a superb canvas for restoration.
To the rear, a charming courtyard with original cobble lock is complemented by stables and an outhouse, further adding to the property's appeal and versatility.
Also included in the portfolio are lands to the rear extending to approximately 1.15 acres, zoned ‘Existing Residential/Mixed Residential and Other Uses’ under the Cork County Development Plan 2022–2028, presenting a compelling development opportunity.
In total, The Glebe House & Gardens extends to approximately 1.95 acres, with circa 0.25 acres to be retained by the current owners. A full site layout is available upon request.
Undoubtedly one of Midleton’s most distinguished residences, The Glebe House & Gardens represents a rare opportunity to acquire a home of exceptional character, privacy, and potential.

About the Area
Midleton (pop. 3,798), 11 miles from Cork City on the N25, is the main market town for the East Cork region, and serves a prosperous agricultural hinterland. The town has a long history, dating back to the foundation of a Cistercian monastery in the 12th century. Today the town is probably best known for its whiskey, distilled here since 1825. You can learn all about the history of Irish whiskey and see how it was made in the Jameson Heritage Centre sited in the beautifully restored old distillery buildings. Midleton is also known for good restaurants and food. Not far from Midleton, near the village of Shanagarry is the famous Ballymaloe cooking school.
