Description
The spacious Jacobean style property was constructed around 1991 to a very high standard and has a unique charm and character. An example of the exceptional attention to detail used throughout the property is the bricks and cladding which were custom fired in the United Kingdom.
The property is built to a modern specification but still retains a very traditional country feel. The entrance porch with flagstone floor, feature oak and stained glass front door provides a warm welcome for visitors. The hallway is finished with solid oak flooring and handcrafted oak staircase that immediately draws your eyes. The kitchen with an Aga at its centre is the heart of the home and a wonderful space for the family to set up for the day. An outstanding feature of this room is the solid framed Smallbone hand crafted kitchen which was commissioned through Harrods of London. A well appointed lounge which overlooks the back courtyard, has solid oak flooring, feature beam ceiling and stone fireplace. Also on the ground floor are a wonderful drawing room with beautiful traditional style solid oak wall panelling, a sun room, an office with reclaimed pine flooring and a guest bedroom suite.
The first floor, which is accessed by two staircases to the front and rear of the house, comprises of four substantial bedrooms, a wonderful family bathroom and a storeroom. The master bedroom suite includes his and hers walk in wardrobes and an en suite shower room.
GARDENS & GROUNDS
The Gables has a very private setting accessed via a mature tree lined avenue beyond electric gates. To the rear of the house lies a magnificent cobble stone courtyard which presents a marvellous setting for relaxing and entertaining. The gardens surrounding the house were designed by Gerry Daly, one of Ireland’s foremost gardening experts, and incorporate walls and steps of local stone.
A substantial two storey double garage (125 SQ.M / 1,350 sq.ft) stands to the side of the house. The upstairs accommodation is currently laid our as a kids den but offers potential for use as an office or accommodation for an au pair.
The additional land to the front of the house offers space for two or three horses.
