Market Overview
Sherry FitzGerald Chief Economist Marian Finnegan has published her Spring Review of the Irish Residential Market (http://www.sherryfitz.ie/research/2662). Key findings are as follows:
- House prices nationally rose by 2.1% in the quarter in comparison to a 1.9% rise for the first quarter in 2017.
- Annually to Q1 2018, residential property prices nationally increased by 8.6%.
- There were 50,900 recorded property transactions in the Property Price Register for 2017, an increase of 14% on 2016.

“Demand remains strong in West Cork, continuing the trend from the second half of 2017. Property competitively priced is selling. Supply remains the key issue in the market. There is a shortage of quality homes across all price brackets. This is as true in Clonakilty as it is in Castletownbere” .
